Projects
At MKS & Associates Land Surveying we go to great lengths to recover the best evidence possible in determining where we believe boundary lines are located.
|
 | | This is another original concrete monument which was on the surface making it easier to find. |
First we searched for the called for monuments, in this case they were concrete monuments (6" square, probably 2'-3' deep with a small square brass plate on top which had a punch hole in it). After comparing field measurements between the more easily found concrete monument and survey markers placed by other surveyors/companies we discovered discrepancies when compared against the record plat. This led us to continue to search for and eventually recover the second monument. These 2 monuments resulted in the best possible survey in our opinion. | | More information concerning the importance of, "called for" or "original" monuments, can be found in (Evidence and Procedures, First Ed., 1962, chapter 2) by Curtis M. Brown. |
